Today was event day, delivering my Financial Mastery for Southend Small Businesses programme, run in collaboration with the local authority. I felt prepared. I know my material. I’ve delivered it before. Yet, those familiar whispers of self-doubt crept in. That inner narrative never fully goes away but neither does the process that gets me back on track.
What a great day it turned out to be. The discussions were rich, the delegates brought curiosity and candour, and the personal insights shared were thoughtful and energising. I found myself genuinely moved by some of the feedback and reflections, particularly around how participants wanted to build on today’s learning. It made me proud not just of the session, but of pushing through to make it happen.
This event reminded me of the power of trust and relationships. In this case, with the local authority. From initial idea to delivered programme, it came together because of shared intention and openness to collaborate.
To wind down, I accepted an invite to the cricket from a close friend. Not usually my sport of choice, but when an old friend extends the offer, you say yes. A chance to decompress, catch up with people I’ve known for years, and let the buzz from the day’s event settle gently into the evening.
Preparation is essential, but so is acknowledging the inner voice and moving forward anyway. Relationships make things happen. Cultivate them deliberately. Wins deserve a wind-down. Don’t rush past the delight at a job well done and enjoy the pause.
